Parent Poll: Should Circumcisions be Banned?

by Babies 411

Squinting BabyThis November, San Fransisco residents will vote on banning circumcisions on males younger than 18 years of age. Circumcision is the surgical removal of foreskin and is a very controversial topic. The “inactivist” (as he calls himself) who began this petition gathered 12,000 signatures for this topic to be added to this year’s San Fransisco ballot.

Circumcisions are a common procedure in the United States and performed as per parent request. There are many different reasons why parents choose whether to circumcise their newborn (with religious reasons being among the top reasons). However, there is not enough evidence for the American Academy of Pediatrics to recommend routine circumcisions of newborns (read risks vs benefits in Circumcision: What’s Your Decision?).

If circumcisions become outlawed, the procedure would be considered a misdemeanor and the practitioners performing this surgery could face jail time and substantial fines.

We want to know what you think? Should circumcisions be outlawed?

No one male or female, young or old should be forced to endure even a pin prick to their private parts. Intact genitals are a human right, end non-therapeutic genital cutting worldwide.

“It is time to recognise that the right to genital autonomy belongs to all children, regardless of race, culture or gender” – Naana Otoo-Oyortey MBE, Executive Director, FORWARD

The United States is the ONLY country in the world where baby boys are ROUTINELY circumcised for non-religious reasons. No medical association in the WORLD currently recommends circumcision.

The myth that somehow male genital mutilation is somehow more healthy has been disproved time and time again – there is nothing dirty or unhealthy about foreskin. It is natural. It has a purpose. It is NOT a birth defect.

Circumcision is PAINFUL to infants (especially since it is often done without anaesthetic), and saying “they won’t remember anyway” is NOT an excuse. The United States has already recognized female genital mutilation as wrong and illegal. It’s time someone stood up for the genital integrity of our little boys. The only person who should make the decision about genital cosmetic surgery is the person who the body belongs to.

Circumcision is outlawed already, and has been since 1997, when it was made illegal to cut girls’ genitals. No one enforces it, though- until now.

Circumcision is already outlawed as we have laws against child abuse, purposely inflicting pain and injuries on children’s or anybody’s body, we have laws against torture, mutilation and human vivisection. It is also already outlawed because we have the law of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution and the laws of the Geneva Convention. Those who preach this atrocity and misuse medicine and religions to blind parents with lies and those who actually commit this disgusting and cruel sex crime, break these laws and shall be punished even more than parents who basically are just victims that got deceived by their evil lies. It is all those evil people deceivers’ fault that this degenerated and sick bestiality ever existed. Get rid of evil demons in disguise and protect your children from those sick and sadistic perverts that get off on sticking knives into screaming children’s genitals!

Just more insane liberals looking for injustice everywhere. And I believe you meant ‘intactivist’. I’d love to see people get this rabid about keeping jobs in the US or making sure everyone had a roof over their head

.. . .. . .. . . . I am a Jewish man, and I think that circumcision should be against the law.

…There is a movement of Jews who are questioning circumcision, and working to end this abuse of children. The movement ranges from the Orthodox to the secular, and includes mothers, fathers, scholars, historians, medical professionals, activists, and intellectuals.

Circumcision should definitely be illegal! Why should parents decide whether or not their kids anatomy should be removed? It’s not theirs. If they want it gone, they could go get it removed theirselves when they turn 18. And as far as the religion thing goes, what if the kid grows up to be an Atheist/A type of religion other than the parents? The reasons it should be illegal definitely outweigh the reasons they shouldn’t. Which the only reason it shouldn’t is the religion thing, which I already covered. I’m a 16 year old circumcised male, and I was circumsized because my mom thinks “uncut” penises “look weird”. That’s the only reason. In conclusion, I want my foreskin back plox. :(
