Want to know what your little one wants? Baby sign language can help! Teaching sign language can facilitate communication between the two of you and promote language development. Not only does sign language improve language skills, but it is also thought to enhance social and emotional behaviors and improve thought processes.
Recently, our friends at Signing Families sent us their Baby, Toddler & Preschool Signing DVD for us to review. The DVD arrived within a couple of days gift wrapped and included a personalized note. What a special touch!
Louise Sattler, a certified school psychologist, developed this highly informative DVD. Approximately 35 minutes in length, it demonstrates easy signs for babies to understand and shows how these signs can be built upon as your baby grows into toddlerhood and preschool age. As an added bonus, a brief Spanish signing lesson is included at the end of the video.
After watching this DVD once, I was able to sign approximately three quarters of the content the following day. Watching this video, you too can learn these easy signs. Start introducing everyday signs like “milk”, “sleep”, “more” and “all done” as early as possible and be consistent. Your baby could surprise you and start signing back as early as nine months!
