Last year I was introduced to an ingenious product called the Shower Hug. The Shower Hug is a wrap that is used in the shower to support and protect sore breasts and nipples. The Shower Hug can also be used to protect c-section incisions! Check out all the benefits.
This product looked very intriguing to me and my new friends at Belmama & Cherub offered to send me one to try myself. Not having sore breasts, not being pregnant and not breastfeeding a baby, I really wasn’t a great candidate to test this product. So instead, I called my A-Team: Veronica and Nicole. Both these ladies are nurses and were expecting. Nicole was pregnant with her first child and was on bedrest for the last part of her pregnancy. As an ER nurse, probably wasn’t too bad of an idea for her to get some rest (this girl is SUPER NURSE!). Veronica was pregnant with her 3rd child and was due 1 month after Nicole. Both delivered healthy baby boys about 7 weeks apart and both breastfed their new infants.
When the Shower Hugs arrived, they were beautifully packaged in organza bags and were so soft to the touch. Alaina, the VP of sales & marketing for Belmama & Cherub, also included a wash cloth and burp cloth for the ladies. We got one organic Shower Hug for Veronica (she’s my eco-conscious, green-living comrade) and the original Shower Hug for Nicole. Here’s what the ladies had to say:
“I never realized how necessary this product was until my last month of pregnancy when I would shower and the stream of water would irritate me! I started using the Organic Shower Hug during pregnancy and on occasion still use it when my ninnies are sore from nursing my newborn son. I especially love how soft the fabric is and I feel its gentle enough to use the washcloth and burpee on my little one’s delicate skin!
Pros: beautiful Organic fabric, extra soft, absorbent, really helps to make showers a more pleasurable experience
Cons: could be smaller in width to only cover nipples, a lot of fabric to wear in shower.

“I was fortunate enough to experience the Shower Hug during my last month of pregnancy and post-partum. I think the concept of the Shower Hug is ingenious. However, I was of the small population who did not experience sore nipples during pregnancy or post-partum, so I didn’t need the Shower Hug. I think it would be most helpful for those with sore, dry, cracked, bleeding nipples. Thank you very much for the opportunity to use and review the Shower Hug.
Sincerely,
Nicole Davino, RN”
